Convention Notes

Exciting news! We have secured the location for our convention. The location of our November 8, 2025 convention will be held at 377 Western Ave. in Augusta, Maine, at the Homewood Suites. We are looking forward to bringing a fun filled uplifting convention theme this year.  Rooms with a reduced rate will be offered to all registered participants for Friday night and or Saturday night for those who attend the convention.


Walmart Aira Services

Walmart now offers a unique application that connects members of the blind and low vision community with sighted interpreters, who communicate visual information in real time. Using remote access to a phone camera or piece of wearable tech, Aira interpreters act as eyes inside the store.




Website Update


The new website is in its final stages of development. The material is organized and presented with accessibility in mind.  We are also adding a digital payment system that should be ready for use for the convention in October.  Stay tuned. 


Hosting Opportunity



Gustavs from Latvia He is coming to America on August 20th on a highly

competitive government funded scholarship with the FLEX Program. 

Gustavs is a warm, adaptable, and socially engaged 16-year-old boy.


Academically, he enjoys history and computer science. Gustavs’ favorite

activity is drama club. He also enjoys being active outside and posting

videos on social media. Gustavs is interested learning about history and

computer science and would like to join a rap or hip-hop class while in

the U.S. Gustavs is enthusiastic about trying new sports and being active

during his exchange. 


As for his vision impairment, he was born with absence of the iris in both

eyes, secondary glaucoma, nystagmus, and photophobia. He describes his

vision as blurry or cloudy, with difficulty focusing due to uncontrolled

light entering the eye. He experiences light sensitivity, general

blurriness, and difficulty seeing fine details. Gustavs also has a reduced

perception of depth and reduced visual field.
